Domande Frequenti
What is compound interest?
It is interest worked out on the starting capital and on the interest already earned. Unlike simple interest, the interest earns interest of its own, so growth becomes exponential rather than a straight line.
How often is it worth compounding?
The more often interest is compounded the higher the result, but the gap between monthly and daily is small. Monthly is the usual compromise, and it is what most funds work on.
What is the rule of 72?
A mental shortcut: divide 72 by the annual rate and you get the years needed to double the capital. At 7 per cent that is about 10.3 years. It holds well for rates between 3 and 25 per cent.
